Bellefontaine Street Water Main Replacement Project

Pipe construction in an open trench

Pasadena Water and Power (PWP) is replacing approximately 1,400 feet of 10-inch cast iron water mainline which is over 100 years old to increase the reliability and quality of water service with a 12-inch ductile iron water main. The replacement and improvement of infrastructure will continue to provide reliable, high quality water service. To minimize the impact of this project on residents and businesses in the area, construction efforts will be contained to approximately one block at a time. Construction will intermittently affect water service, but notices of any water interruption will be provided at least 48 hours in advance; special efforts will be taken to minimize customer inconvenience. During construction, a variety of heavy equipment will be used including excavators, backhoes, loaders, and construction trucks. Temporary traffic control and detour signs will be posted at all times during construction. Most work will occur Monday through Friday, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Please note businesses in the area will remain open and accessible during construction.

Timeline and Location

Construction will begin in April 2024, and PWP plans to complete the project by July 2024. The project affects the Bellefontaine St. spanning from Pasadena Avenue to Fair Oaks Avenue. Please reference the map below for the construction project location.
