Colorado Blvd. Main Replacement Project
Beginning in July 2021, Pasadena Water and Power will be conducting water system upgrades along Colorado Blvd. This much-needed project will replace the current water main which is nearly 90 years old, and increase the overall reliability and quality of water service for our customers.
After the project is complete, the Colorado Blvd will be repaved and restriped.
Project Details and Location
The Colorado Blvd. Main Replacement is expected to begin on Monday, July 12, 2021 and construction will impact the one-mile stretch of Colorado between Meredith Avenue and Altadena Drive. The project will replace the existing 6-inch main with an 8-inch main that will enhance water pressure and quality.
During the project, a variety of heavy equipment will be used including backhoes and loaders. Traffic signs and delineators will be employed to minimize the impact of traffic flow along Colorado Boulevard. Please observe and adhere to posted no parking zones, construction signs, and flagmen. Special efforts will be taken to keep inconveniences to a minimum.
Construction work will occur Monday thru Friday. Working hours on Colorado Boulevard are from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm. PWP's Water Division plans to keep one lane open in each direction at all times to assist with traffic flow.
Timeline
Work is expected to begin July 12, 2021 and continue until mid-November when PWP will pause construction due to the City of Pasadena's construction moratorium which lasts from November 15, 2021 through January 10, 2022. PWP will resume work after January 10, 2022 and expects to complete the project by the end of March 2022.
