Florecita Drive High Voltage Undergrounding

PWP workers gather at a manhole near a truck

Pasadena Water and Power will be starting construction on a high voltage undergrounding project on Florecita Drive & Crestford Drive. The infrastructure improvement aims to convert high voltage overhead power lines to the underground.

This will come in two phases: First, PWP will install substructure in the street in the form of vaults and conduits.

Second, PWP will install underground electrical assets that will replace the existing overhead high voltage infrastructure. Additionally, during the second phase, there will be a coordinated piece-by-piece removal the high voltage overhead power lines and transformers. Overhead low voltage conductors and service drops will remain in place, as will third party communication assets like phone and cable TV lines.

Timeline and Location

Construction for Phase 1 started in March 2026, and was completed on July 30, 2026. Phase 2 is currently underway and will continue through the rest of 2026.

Impact

No planned outages are currently scheduled. Traffic impact is expected to be minimal, and roads and access to driveways will remain open. Work will occur from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
