Mountain St. Underground Community Meeting August 30
Community Meeting - Wednesday, August 30, 6:00-7:00 p.m.
Victory Park, Room 3
2575 Paloma Street
The public is invited to join Pasadena Water and Power (“PWP”) for a Mountain Street Undergrounding Project community meeting on Wednesday, August 30, 6 p.m. to-7 p.m. at Victory Park, Room 3, 2575 Paloma Street. PWP is in the early planning stages of this project to convert the overhead utility wires underground on Mountain Street between Lake Avenue to the west and Hill Avenue to the east.
Placing overhead utility lines below city streets, or "undergrounding," helps beautify Pasadena, reduce the number of outages, enhance public safety, and protect our urban forest. Beautification and reliability have been at the forefront of a multi-year Capital Improvement Program which began in 1968 with the Underground Utility District Program. Under this initiative, overhead utility systems, including electric cable and telephone communication lines, are relocated underground.
PWP is currently working on engineering designs for Mountain St. (between Lake Ave. and Hill Ave.) and Raymond Ave. (Maple St. to north City limits) undergrounding projects. Construction is expected to begin in the 2025 fiscal year (beginning July 2025). At the upcoming meeting, engineering staff will provide an overview of the Mountain St. project and will be available to answer questions.
Spanish translation will be available during the meeting. For accessibility information, or to request an accommodation, please contact (626) 744-7311 or CSC@cityofpasadena.net. Providing at least 72 hours advance notice will help ensure availability.
