The Metropolitan Water District of Southern California (MWD), who provides a percentage of Pasadena’s water supply, is now performing critical repairs to their infrastructure. The anticipated timeline for the project is from September 6-20; requiring a two-week emergency shutdown of an upstream MWD pipeline. PWP will continue to receive water from MWD during the shutdown. However, as the supply source will be switched to limited State Water Project supplies during the shutdown, MWD is asking the region serviced by this pipeline to significantly reduce water use, including suspending outdoor watering during the two week period. PWP encourages residents and businesses to answer MWD’s call for action. PWP is also topping off local storage and taking other operational actions for additional preparation.
Beyond MWD’s short-term call to action, to further help the MWD effort and to address larger ongoing drought needs, Pasadena moved to a one day per week outdoor watering schedule, effective September 1, 2022, which is mandatory for residents and businesses.
