City of Pasadena Wins Los Angeles Excellence in Technology Award
The City’s Information Technology Department recently received a Los Angeles Excellence in Technology Award for an Outstanding IT Project at the LA Digital Government Summit on August 27, 2019. The LA Digital Government Summit is a two-day event sponsored by Government Technology Magazine during which state and local governments are recognized for their online presence and progress. Specifically, the Los Angeles Excellence in Technology Awards is a highlight of the summit, a program that honors outstanding achievements and recognizes innovative technology initiatives in the public sector.
The City received recognition for an Outstanding IT Project for the development of an online rebate portal for its Pasadena Water and Power (“PWP”) department, which allows customers to apply for rebates directly through the PWP website. This online tool replaced a paper-based process, improved the customer experience and significantly reduced rebate processing time and administrative burden.
PWP’s online rebate portal originally launched in July 2017 and was further enhanced in August 2018 to incorporate Electric Vehicle rebates. Since the launch, more than 1,700 customers have applied for 2,611 efficiency rebates and more than 1,000 customers have applied for 802 rebates for an EV and or EV charger. This achievement demonstrates the success of cross-departmental collaboration and the City of Pasadena’s commitment to continued improvement of City services.
