Fall Events to Help Capture Rainwater and Create Water Efficient Landscapes

A wheelbarrow full of pots of native plants

This fall, Pasadena Water and Power (PWP) invites the community to participate in programs that help conserve one of Southern California’s most precious natural resources: water. At these events, attendees can capture rainwater for irrigation by participating in an upcoming rain barrel distribution and attending water efficient landscape workshops. All events are open to the public and can be found at The Ripple Effect.

Rain Barrel Distribution Event – Saturday, October 11, from 10 a.m. to Noon

Foothill Municipal Water District (FMWD), 4536 Hampton Road, La Canada Flintridge 91011

  • This event is in partnership with FMWD, PWP, and other local agencies. Customers must pre-order a rain barrel, and plan to pick it up at the event. Plus, PWP offers a rebate that will cover the cost of the 50-gallon rain barrel, making it FREE after application. For FAQs, installation guidelines and maintenance tips, visit our rainwater harvesting page.

Native Plants A to Z Workshop – Saturday, October 25, from 10 a.m. to Noon

Hahamongna Native Plant Nursery, 4550 Oak Grove Dr.

  • In partnership with the Arroyo Seco Foundation, PWP is hosting a workshop focusing on the importance of native plants. Speaker Leigh Adams will discuss favorite local species and share plant tips and trends.
  • PWP customers will receive a FREE native plant (customers must present a copy of their utility bill or show online account on mobile device at time of event). Visit our Events page for more information.

Transforming Lawns: A Sustainable Approach – Thursday, Nov. 20, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

La Casita Del Arroyo, 177 S. Arroyo Blvd.
